Every spring season, Babylonstoren’s exquisite collection of endemic South African clivias come to life for their annual flowering. During this masterclass, you’ll learn how to grow them in your own garden. Babylonstoren botanist, Ernst van Jaarsveld, will share his wealth of knowledge on the different species of clivia, veltheimia, scadoxus, crinum, watsonia and many more to show you how to sow, grow and maintain them. You’ll be taught to divide old plants, which potting mixes and fertilisers to use, and how to treat common diseases.

The class includes an insightful, guided walk through the Babylonstoren garden to see the thousands of clivias growing in the shade of our wild olive trees, as well as the many other indigenous bulbs in our nursery collections. Before enjoying lunch in the Greenhouse Restaurant, you’ll be able to put your newly acquired knowledge and skills to practice by planting your own clivia to take home.

Steaming coffee from the Lekker Room is served upon arrival.
Lunch at the Greenhouse Restaurant is included.
