Baker

Babylonstoren has an exciting opportunity for a passionate, people-oriented and meticulous baker to join the bakery team. This position will focus on the manufacturing and processing of baked goods, mainly breads. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and positive professional with experience in the baking industry.

Requirements

  • A completed National Senior Certificate qualification (matric / Grade 12).
  • At least five years’ relevant baking experience.
  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters.
  • HACCP knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Excellent time-management and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated individual who takes initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to solve problems.
  • Ability to lift heavy items for an extended time.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes.
  • This role requires shift work.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the bakery supervisor with relevant tasks.
  • Production planning and workload prioritising.
  • Weighing and mixing ingredients, fermenting dough and baking goods.
  • Performing post-baking quality inspection and evaluation.
  • Performing daily stock-take and relevant communication.
