Baker

Babylonstoren has an exciting opportunity for a passionate, detail-oriented and people-focussed baker to join the bakery team. This position will focus on the manufacturing and processing of baked goods, primarily breads. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and positive professional with experience in the baking industry.

Requirements

  • A completed National Senior Certificate qualification (matric / Grade 12).
  • At least five years’ relevant baking experience.
  • Proficiency with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters.
  • HACCP knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload efficiently.
  • Excellent time-management and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy items for extended periods.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes
  • Willingness to work shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the bakery supervisor with relevant tasks.
  • Plan production schedules and effectively prioritise workload.
  • Weigh and mix ingredients, ferment dough, and bake goods.
  • Conduct post-baking quality inspections and evaluations.
  • Perform daily stock-taking and communicate relevant information.
