Babylonstoren has an exciting opportunity for a facilitator at the Kleinbosch Centre. The ideal candidate has a passion for educating the youth, exceptional people skills, and the drive to help establish an exceptional institution. Kleinbosch is a historic farm that housed the first official Afrikaans school. On-site accommodation is available.

Requirements

• A relevant education of language qualification.
• Experience as a teacher or facilitator, or experience in a student residence environment.
• Experience in working with learners, such as teaching, mentorship or youth leadership.
• Experience in coaching life skills such as communication, conflict resolution or similar skills would be beneficial.
• Valid first aid training.
• Confident in handling emergencies, conflicts or challenging behaviour, and the ability to address the situation calmly and fairly.
• Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with learners, parents and staff.
• Ability to lead and supervise groups of students.
• Respect for and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Engaging and uplifting personality.
• Accommodating of flexible working hours and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Daily oversight and management of learners’ schedules (e.g. wake-up times, mealtimes, bedtimes).
• Monitor learners’ physical health and offer medical assistance as needed.
• Maintain exceptional standards.
• Manage staff.
• Effective management of course schedules, activities and assessments.
• Offer interactive and practical sessions that promote active engagement.
• Lead learners in identifying their leadership styles and life skills needs.
• Facilitate group activities, discussions and roleplay to simulate real-life scenarios.
• Cultivate a safe, respectful and encouraging learning environment that inspires children.
• Support the rollout of holiday programs and academic excellence courses.
