General Production Assistant

Rietvlei Farm, situated in the heart of Simondium, focusses on three livestock branches, including cattle, milk buffaloes and chickens. This year-long contract appointment is ideal for a student looking to broaden their knowledge and complete the practical component of their studies. Requirements

• A completed National Senior Certificate qualification (matric / Grade 12) (tertiary education would be beneficial).
• Experience with beef cattle, dairy, chickens and AI would be beneficial.
• Practical knowledge of irrigation.
• Computer literate.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
• Must be able to work independently and in a team and motivate people.
• Honest, reliable individual with sober habits.
• Hardworking.

Responsibilities

• General farming operations.
• Pasture management.
• Managing irrigation programmes.
• Planting, calculation and management of rations for different divisions.
• General wellbeing of livestock on the farm.
