Babylonstoren has an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Procurement Clerk to join our e-commerce division.

Requirements

  • A completed National Senior Certificate qualification (matric / Grade 12) is a requirement. Further qualification in procurement, supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in procurement, packaging, inventory management, or related administrative roles would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, delivery systems, end-to-end supply chain processes, and key influencing factors.
  • Able to work under pressure, with a talent for efficiently organising and prioritising tasks, particularly in dynamic environments with multiple concurrent projects.
  • Outstanding planning and project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Efficiently organise procurement activities relating to packaging and labelling, including supplier coordination, timeline management, and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
  • Precision is vital to guarantee timely sourcing, ordering, and delivery of correct packaging materials. Meticulous review of specifications, contracts, and invoices is essential.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (Afrikaans and English) for effective interaction with team members, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues related to packaging and labelling procurement.
  • Collaborate effectively with various teams, including design, operations and retail, product development, quality assurance, and finance, to align packaging and labelling procurement activities with overall business objectives.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office and other software used in role) to effectively and efficiently complete tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the procurement of packaging materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of packaging and labelling materials and finished products, monitor stock levels, and reorder supplies in time to prevent shortages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, product development, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to ensure seamless coordination of packaging and labelling activities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with packaging and labelling procurement.
  • Effectively communicate with suppliers to coordinate timeous deliveries and resolve issues related to sourcing of packaging and labelling.
  • Ensure that all packaging and labelling materials meet quality, consistency, and branding standards.
  • Handle paperwork, including invoices, delivery notes, and other administrative tasks related to packaging and labelling operations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal teams and external suppliers, maintaining professionalism and clarity in all communication.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers whilst fostering strong, sustainable relationships with both new and existing suppliers.
