Indulge in the season of summer fruit at this hands-on workshop where we’ll learn various baking techniques with master baker Martjie Malan.

Following a short ride along the picturesque slopes of Simonsberg, we’ll descend towards the historical farmyard of Soetmelksvlei, which represents a time when life was simpler and craftsmanship was treasured. Here, Martjie will teach you the art of making a moreish masterpiece.

We will be making a sweet tart dough and frangipane filling to bake a glorious berry frangipane tart. Frangipane refers to a French tart paste made of ground almonds. We’ll also learn various baking techniques evolving around berries, including how to cook a berry topping to serve with a variety of desserts and roasts.

After an exciting morning, a hearty lunch will be served at the Old Stables Restaurant.
