Indulge in the season of figs at this hands-on workshop where we’ll learn various baking techniques with figs.

Following a short ride along the picturesque slopes of Simonsberg, we’ll descend towards the historical farmyard of Soetmelksvlei, which represents a time when life was simpler, and craftsmanship was treasured. Here, master baker Martjie Malan will teach you the art of making a moreish masterpiece.

We will be making a sweet tart dough and a classic frangipane filling to bake a glorious fig tart. Frangipane refers to a French tart paste made of ground almonds. We will also learn how to bake a basic focaccia with fresh figs and parma ham.

After an exciting morning, a hearty lunch will be served at the Old Stables Restaurant.
