A good trim goes a long way to ensure healthy and good-looking trees in your garden. Did you know that a summer cut is just as important as pruning your trees ahead of the season? Join our fruit tree expert Comine van Zyl as she guides you through the technicalities of summer pruning with our own Babylonstoren garden as reference.
The start of summer signals the last thinning out of our stone fruit – plums, peaches and apricots. It’s also the time for our younger fruit trees (specifically plums) to be trained and fixed as needed for the espalier systems. Guests will be able to help trim our quince step-over hedges that need a cut every second week to keep in shape. We’ll look at the citrus shoots that need clearing and take part in the pruning of pears and apples.
Steaming coffee from the Farm Shop is served upon arrival.
Lunch at the Greenhouse Restaurant is included.
