Green fig preserve is one of the most sought-after and versatile preserves in the collective South African pantry – delicious with anything from aged cheese to Christmas cakes and a myriad of other, sweet bakes.

Put on your sunhat and comfortable walking shoes for this workshop as we’ll be heading into the garden and farm orchards to pick our own early, unripe green figs. From there, we’ll head into the Old Bakery kitchen to turn the harvest into the traditional delicacy. In this hands-on workshop, farm foodie Louzel Lombard Steyn will guide guests to make their own green fig preserve, using her grandma’s trusted tips on preserving the whole fruit.

Steaming coffee from the Lekker Room is served upon arrival.

Lunch in the Tasting Room is included.
