Soetmelksvlei Heritage Day Festival

Heritage Day at Soetmelksvlei celebrates much-loved farm animals, classic family games and delicious heritage dishes our mothers and grandmothers used to make. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day with parent-and-child bag races (sakresies), marbles, boules and kennetjie.

Children are also invited to participate in a kettie-shooting competition, with entries opening at 14h00. The competition starts with 6–12-year-olds at 14h00, followed by children aged 13 and older at 15h00. Entry costs R50 per person.

Fuel up for all the fun with comforting heritage food at the Old Stables Restaurant buffet lunch for R360 per person. Dish up local favourites like freshly baked roosterkoek and farmstyle bread, mieliepap, lamb ribs and oven-baked pumpkin, as well as classic milk tart for dessert. Soetmelksvlei entry fee payable when booking.

Farm games programme

Parent-and-child bag races from 09h30–11h30. Finals take place at 12h00.

Kennetjie: All day behind the Gardener’s Cottage.

Marbles: All day at the Gardener’s Cottage.

Boules: All day under the oak trees.

Kettie-shooting competition: Entries open at 14h00. Ages 6–12 compete at 14h00, followed by ages 13+ at 15h00.
