Blacksmithing: forge your own ladle

Join us for a hands-on blacksmithing workshop at Soetmelksvlei, a delightful new excursion by Babylonstoren.   

Learn the art of forging – from lighting the forge to mastering the heat for perfect results. Discover the basics of blacksmithing as you shape sheet metal, secure it with rivets and explore traditional twisting techniques.

From the Babylonstoren ticket office, we take a short shuttle ride along the picturesque slopes of Simonsberg before descending towards the historic Soetmelksvlei farmyard. 

Under the guidance of our resident blacksmith, you’ll make your very own handcrafted ladle (serving spoon) to take home. All materials included.

A hearty lunch will be served in the Old Stables Restaurant before guests return to Babylonstoren.
