Craft a traditional citrus wood & riempie stool

Fanus Fourie will guide you in the making of a traditional camping stool from citrus wood recycled from Babylonstoren’s own citrus orchard, while Rouan Ontong will teach you to cut and weave the traditional riempie seat.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – citrus wood will only become available again when the next old tree falls. Come feel the texture and breathe the scent of citrus wood, and learn the traditional art of cutting and weaving leather straps.

Price includes a shuttle from Babylonstoren to Soetmelksvlei, the workshop and materials, refreshments and a generous farm-style lunch at the Old Stables Restaurant.
